Florence Broadhurst x Black Sheep is a special edition WMN Collection that pays homage to an Australian design icon whose flamboyant personality was matched only by her ground-breaking artwork that adorned homes the world over in the 60s & 70s.
But we weren't only drawn to Florence's unique archive of 500 images ranging from tapestries to geometrics, florals to psychedelic. We were struck by her equally diverse life. Her one-of-a-kind personality. Her Australian ancestry. And the fact she was the Black Sheep of her family and, indeed, her own life.
Florence sung her way out of the tiny cattle town in which she was born. Swapping Bundaberg for the Far East in the 1920s, and from there on with every incarnation she became somebody new – new hair colour, new accent, new history. Sometimes, even, a new name. Aged 60 she did it again, launching in Sydney her defining venture – an internationally-renowned, luxury, hand-print wallpaper business that we honour in all its diverse glory with this special edition WMN Collection.
