Think Mexico and the first thing that springs to mind is burritos, banditos and big nights out slinging back tequila or mezcal (it's better, smokier cousin). We consider this central American holiday destination more for its laid-back Coronas than it's fast-paced cycling culture.
"Who doesn't love a food truck taco."
Perhaps rightly so. Mexico doesn't exactly have a long litany of Grand Tour pedigree to its name. Raúl Alcalá is probably the country's most cherished cycling son boasting two stage wins and a young riders jersey in the La Grande Boucle in the early 90s. But that's not to say it doesn't have a burgeoning bicycling scene, and hell who doesn't love a food truck taco or hasn't at least once thought about following Yucatan backroads past colourful villages and chasmic-sized canyons before ending the day cold beer in hand and crystal Caribbean waters lapping at your tired legs.
"The design is a tribute to los buenos tiempos – the good times."
Mexico has everything. Colour, culture and, now, cycling. This kit is a celebration of that. The first in a unique series that pay tribute to our worldwide community. A Special Edition Mexico Kit – the Tequila Sunrise. The design is a tribute to los buenos tiempos – the good times – and inspired by long days getting lost on dirt roads and capping it all off with a Corona long neck!
Mexico's summer and sunsets rival our very own here in Australia. This kit takes its cues from the coral-hued skies it was shot under. You could we say got lucky or maybe that's how life always is down Mexico way. The pattern is Aztec, a culture which flourished long before cycling was ever thought of, but was once again, the colour comes from the skies that lay to rest long Mexican days of lively beats, beautiful beaches and dynamite beverages.
We capped ours off with Quesadillas and Coronas … from where you'd rather be.
TEQUILA SUNRISE – MEXICO SPECIAL EDITION KIT. RELEASED WEDNESDAY JULY 25. 7PM AEST.
