This week we lost a mate. Our team lost a mate. And Brisbane lost a mate.
The sport of cycling is many things. A pastime. A goal. An outlet. But for many, it’s also family. And Poul was a huge part of our family.
Poul Peterson was our in-house Mechanic at The Woolshed. Over the last five years, he would be the first person that greeted us in the morning, and often the last person that said goodbye to us in the evening. He would more often than not be the person that would make us laugh during the day. He was one of life’s sweethearts. He was our sweetheart.
If there is anything we can leave you with, it’s this. Reach out. Touch. Talk. Laugh. You never know how important the simple things are to the people you love.
Rest in Peace, Friend.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of Poul Peterson from his and the Black Sheep family. He passed earlier this week.
If you would like to be put in touch with his family please reach out. If you need support Lifeline Australia are there to listen.
Be there for one another, keep safe and chat to a mate if you need.
My twenty-year friendship comes to an end in this life. I'm so grateful to know him, sharing in his universe of amazing people and quality humans that orbited his world. His dry sense of humour and quick wit is something I'll greatly miss.
Poul has made a lasting impression on all - his extended family at Black Sheep Cycling unite together, remembering how much joy he contributed daily.
Big Love to all and rest well, my true mate.
