Brisbane boasts a rich cycling tapestry – perhaps only rivalled by Melbourne in Australia – with its distinct terrain a pedal stroke from the city, year-round bloody good weather and its diverse and burgeoning biking community. Having begun life on the Gold Coast, one-hour south of the River City, its what drew Black Sheep to Brissie. And why we call it home. Brisbane embraced us and so too have we embraced this city. Made far easier by the existence of the best local brewery being opposite our HQ.
We've witnessed the cycling community grow, and can lay claim to being at least partly responsible for that growth. So it's with great pride and sense of genuine excitement that the Australian National Road Series is rolling in town on April 14 for the first time ever., A city-based event unlike any other on the calendar, it forms part of the much wider reaching Brisbane Cycling Festival, which includes community events, the Track National Championships, the world-renowned Six Day Track Series and the Tour de Brisbane Gran Fondo.
With an incredibly successful Summer of Cycling now behind them, The NRS Classic also marks the beginning of the National Road Series season for Specialized Women's Racing. To celebrate their 'Homecoming', we've produced a Special Edition Collection which they will wear exclusively for the Tour de Brisbane. Utilising our much-lauded WMN Collection, the Homecoming Kit introduces a brand new pink-topped Body Bib, an eye-catching LuxLite Jersey, which reflects the diversity of the team and a complementary long sleeve Thermal Jersey and Vest.
"To be able to celebrate the team's diversity with a kit like this, while acknowledging the part Brisbane plays in the Australian cycling scene is incredibly rewarding." –
Nicole Moerig, SWR Media Manager
"Specialized Women’s Racing brings a diverse group of athletes to the National Road Series. From road to track; mountain biking to world champions," says SWR Media Manager and Love Women's Cycling Podcast host, Nicole Moerig, who previously plied her trade and primed herself for her European adventures alongside the likes of Jay McCarthy and Lucy Kennedy on the crit circuits of Brisbane.
"Each of these women brings a wealth of diverse experiences, knowledge and skills to the team. And they’re encouraged to share it so they can learn from each other and grow as a team. To be able to celebrate that diversity with a kit like this, while acknowledging the part Brisbane plays in the Australian cycling scene, and to be able to give back through the community events we have planned while in town is incredibly rewarding. And a testament to what Black Sheep continues to do for women's cycling."
"The WMN Collection sets a new benchmark in look, fit and feel thanks to an incredible attention to detail in its design. It's a noticeable pleasure to pull on each morning before a ride or race, yet given how comfortable it is, the only time you'll notice it while riding is when your training buddies mention how much they like it!"–
Briony Mattocks, Specialized Women's Racing Team.
